 Nyseli is a multi-hyphenate human and artist who brings a vibrant energy to every project she is attached to. 

 

The proud daughter of Dominican parents, New York born, raised in Alief (Houston suburb) Nyseli is a mix of Dominican traditions, southern hospitality, and a touch of New York swag. All of which weave into her artistry.

 

With a BFA in Acting and Directing from Sam Houston State University, Nyseli has built an impressive and unique portfolio, working alongside renown artists most recently including John Leguizamo, Judy Reyes, Luna Velez, and David Zayas under the direction of  Ruben Santiago-Hudson (The Public). As well as singing original music by Chicano Batman in a musical in development by John Leguizamo and Aaron Gonzalez (RattleStick Theater). Last year she sang at 54 Below for Jaime Lozano's new show in development Present Perfect, as well as  the Barn On Fire Residency to help develop Sueños: Our American Musical which just released an EP- where you can hear Nyseli featured on a few songs!

Being a part of the developmental stages of any new work is sacred. One of her very first experiences as an actor in NYC, was being in a developmental workshop for what would later become Broadway mega hit Dear Evan Hansen directed by Michael Greif. She has also performed in the World Premiere of the Bizet adaptation Carmen La Cubana (reimagined by Christopher Renshaw and musically arranged by Alex Lacamoire) at the esteemed Théâtre du Châtelet (Paris, France). 

 

Nyseli is a current company member of the reputable Pregones/ Puerto Rican Traveling Theatre where she has helped with character and music development for the Off-Broadway production of Torched! The Musical and has performed in various concert adaptations of the musical as well.  Through Pregones, Nyseli has been able to collaborate with artists from the Appalachia, Puerto Rico and even Cuban artists in San Francisco!

From 2015-2020, Nyseli co-produced and sang in an all-female trio, powerhouse cover band called Ménage Music performing at the Iridium Jazz Club, The Green Room 42, Nublu, The Duplex, Broadway Comedy Club and Industry to name a few.

Nyseli has also trained in short form improv with Face Off Unlimited for 7+ years and has been an ongoing improviser/performer in their show and one of New York's best kept secrets- Batsu! A Japanese style, short form, punishment-based improv show. Nyseli has been able to use her improv background to seamlessly transition into commercial and television work (High Maintenance, OITNB). She continuously proves her versatility as an actor and her adaptability to this unpredictable industry.

 

Beyond acting, Nyseli's creativity knows no bounds. She is known for her skills in vocal arrangement and is now venturing into directing short films and concerts. As a co-founder of Just BeiN Productions, she is dedicated to amplifying creative individuals so that they can push boundaries and feel empowered in their uniqueness. Nyseli actively supports and uplifts fellow artists and always strives to build community while doing so.

 

Passionate about representation and increasing visibility for Latiné artists, Nyseli's most recent endeavor is serving on the Board of Directors for the Latine MT Lab. Through this, she works towards amplifying the voices of underrepresented writers, playwrights and composers to provide resources so that  Latiné stories can be developed and included in the theatre and musical theatre canon fostering true inclusivity within the industry.​
